Being the first full year after 2 covid affected years was what the club needed. There were 20 matches and each were well contested with the spirit of friendship, and a willingness to help those that at times were struggling.
The Club Championship was dominated from the first match with Andrew Williams winning the first match and never looking back winning 9 out of 18 matches fished. Nearest number of wins after that was 2.
Runner Up was Bob Edwards who finished a distant 19 points behind and was the only member to fish all 20 outings.
3rd place was taken by Mason Harvey after a very eventful year for our only Junior member, Well Done to all.
In the Knock out competitions again Andrew reigned supreme winning the Singles by defeating Dave Barr quite convincingly and with his partner Paul Veal also winning the doubles by again beating Dave Barr and his partner Terry Williamson.
There were some great catches and at the end of the season the total weight of fish caught exceeded 8,600lb, not our best year ever but still very good for a club averaging 9 members per outing.
The largest recorded weight was by Paul Veal of 273lb at Orchard Place Farm and over the year there were 22 100lb+ nets weighed in with a further 9 in the 90lb+ bracket.
The largest single fish landed in any match was by Dave Ford. It was a carp of 18lb 11oz which is his largest ever single fish. It took well over an hour to land, (seemed longer for those of us that watched) and was landed on the pole with a 2lb hooklength and a No 6 elastic.
All in all a very pleasurable and at times very amusing and regarding the actual fishing, frustrating year, looking forward to next year.
