This page is designed to give answers to some of the many questions which arise about our favourite pastime.
They are not necessarily a definitive answer but more of a general personal view by the writer.

Tips
1. What is the 3 finger method?
I always do this when using the method. When using flat method feeders like the Korum I place method mix groundbait on my right hand fingers and push the feeder into this with my left hand.
This leaves three distinct finger marks in your feed where you can place your hook bait before you put a final covering of groundbait over the top.
By having three finger marks you can vary where you place your hook bait and on the day this can be the difference between 50lb and 100lb of fish. How many times have you sat there wondering why you can only make contact with some of the bites when the angler in the next swim is bagging up? The next time this happens to you vary where you place the hook bait in your feeder and see the difference it can make.
When you watch carp feeding they normally hit the ends of the feeder - not the middle - hence the shaking rod and false bite
so if you position the hook bait at various points in your feeder you will eventually find out where you get the quickest positive bite.
Of course you may have to change this position as the day dictates. Bob Edwards
2. How Long to Soak Pellets for the Method Feeder?
As a general rule its 1 minute multiplied by the size of the pellet. For example: Using 4mm pellets in the feeder would be soaked for 4 minutes.
Drain off the water and then add any colouring, flavours or liquid attractants. mix throughly so the pellets absorbs the moisture.
If the pellets start to dry out add just a little water and mix. Ian Emms
3. 10 Minute Paste
Measure out half a pint of Swim Stim Extreme Paste powder into a bait box.
Measure out a quarter of a pint of water and add a quarter of a teaspoonful of Fish Gutz additive and mix well. This is a really potent attractor.
Pour all the liquid and the included additive straight into the paste powder in a large mixing bowl.
Keep mixing until the water has been absorbed and the paste has taken on an even consistency.
Put the paste into an air tight container and store in the fridge.
If the paste is too soft add 2 tablespoons of wheat gluten flour to the paste mix.

4. Quick and Easy Krill and Crab Paste
Cut a pack of ready made shortcrust pastry in half, as this will make enough bait for a full days fishing.
Spread some crab paste from the supermarket quite thickly but evenly over one side pastry.
Next sprinkle a handful of Krill milled expander pellet powder or crushed pellets over the pastry.
Roll it up and knead well to evenly mix the ingredients to make a firm but sticky paste.
If the paste is too sticky simply add a little extra Krill powder until it is of the consistency you require.
The finished paste has a brilliant shellfish smell that fish love. You can either store it in the fridge or freeze it for later.
